Amazon to collect Alabama sales tax starting November 1, 2016

It appears that Amazon.com will start collecting sales tax for online sales to Alabama residents starting November 1st, 2016.

According to TaxRates.com:

Amazon is going to comply with Alabama’s Simplified Seller Use Tax Remittance Act, which enables “eligible sellers to … collect, report and remit a flat eight percent (8%) sellers use tax on all sales made into Alabama” (rather than varying rates due to local taxes).
